
SWM works both locally and online, running workshops in script development and directing, as well as offering services in Project Mentor and Script Consultation on diverse projects, with a particular focus on short and feature film projects. We work with groups and also one on one for a more tailored experience.
Currently, SWM is exploring funding opportunities to be able to roll out a series of workshops and mentorships to female and gender non conforming emerging filmmakers across Australia.
Melissa has taught screenwriting and directing, and mentored students at various institutions, including the AFTRS (Australian Film Television and Radio School), Macquarie University, JMC Academy, and Screenwise.
Melissa brings to projects her wealth of experience and knowledge in development, stemming from her experience in developing a range of projects for production companies including Media Stockade, Playground Films, and Goalpost Pictures.
She has participated in prestigious international film labs including the Venice Biennale College Cinema, where she developed her feature film screenplay Once Upon a Time You Loved Me.
Melissa holds an Grad Dip in Film Directing from AFTRS and a BA in Media and Communications from Macquarie University. She also completed the intensive one year UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting, where she wrote two feature screenplays and workshopped other participants features across the year.
Melissa is focused on identifying filmmakers visions, and supporting them in realise their unique voice through a tailored and individual processes of development at any stage, from early idea, screenplay, all the way through to editing.
